Imagine Cup 2008

Imagine a world where technology enables a sustainable environment

Worldwide over 100000 students competed in Imagine Cup 2007. Theme was 'Imagine a world where technology enables a sustainable environment. Sri Lanka had over 740 registrations and two teams represented Sri Lanka in the world competition.

This year also the local software design competition was won by the University of Moratuwa, Faculty of Information Technology and Faculty of Engineering. Team members were Sapumal Ahangama, Chethiya Abeysinghe, Supunmali Ahangama and Dasuni Kannangara.

Other team represented Sri Lanka in the Short Film Category who made it to the world wide 6 finalists. They were team 'Genes | Pictures' and the team members were Buddhika Perera, Malika Fernando, Salinga Kodikara and Gimantha Aponso.



Imagine Cup 2007

Imagine a world where technology enables a better education for all

Worldwide over 100000 students competed in Imagine Cup 2007. Theme was 'Imagine a world where technology enables a better education for all. Two teams represented Sri Lanka in the world competition.

This year also the local software design competition was won by the University of Moratuwa, Faculty of Information Technology. Team members were Sanjaya Rathnayake, Ruvindee Tharaka, Amila de Zoysa and Anuruddha Ranatunga.

Other team represented Sri Lanka in the Short Film Category who made it to the world wide 6 finalists. They were team 'Tear' from University of Colombo School of Computing, and the team members were Jayanath Galahitigama, Tharaka Jayasekera, Isura Sandaruwan and Ishara Perera. Sri Lanka showed significant talent in the Short Film category as three Sri Lankan teams made it to the second round. Team tear made it to the world wide finals outrunning over 300 other team from around the world.



Imagine Cup 2006

Imagine a World where technology enables us to live healthier lives

Altogether 44 teams submitted proposals for Software Design invitational under the theme 'Imagine a World where technology enables us to live healthier lives'.

Taking things to the next level, this time five finalist teams presented their solutions on stage in front of the judging panel and a large audience. After many challenging questions team Arunalu from Faculty of Information Technology, University of Moratuwa won the Imagine Cup 2006 Sri Lanka. Team members were Prasad Wickramasinghe, Yasith Perera, Shanaka Perera and Chathurika Sandarenu.



Imagine Cup 2005

Imagine a world where technology dissolves boundaries among us

Year 2005 was a significant year for Microsoft Sri Lanka as it was the first time Sri Lanka competed in Imagine Cup. Also for university students it was a new experience. After several months of event introductory sessions, presentations and workshops, students from various universities submitted 17 project proposals following the theme 'Imagine a world where technology dissolves boundaries among us'. After couple of rounds of stiff competition the team SivuMithun from Faculty of Information Technology, University of Moratuwa won the Imagine Cup 2005 Sri Lanka. Team members were Gayan Perera, Chandima Jayasiri, Sithira Weerabahu and Anupama Amarasinghe.

Later they represented Sri Lanka at the Imagine Cup 2005 world competition at Yokohama, Japan.
